Wendover, Sunday 29th January 2006

A heavy frost the night before, the morning bright but cold.  We were the third group of  Ramblers to descend on Wendover’s car park that morning, but the paths are numerous and we didn’t see them again after they departed.

Ascending Coombe Hill soon warms us up, but the heavy overnight frost makes for some slippery patches

We arrive safely at the war memorial on the summit

As the frost melts the earth beneath turns to mud and we still have to tread carefully

Following a good meal and a warm up in the pub we face the sinking sun
