July 31st 2005, Chiddingfold, Surrey.  A Close Shave

Every Leader’s nightmare, but fortunately exceedingly rare.  Details published, no time to contact all members, and the pub landlord phones up on Friday to say sorry but he’s winding up the business and the chef has already left.  At least he phoned!

While Glenys contemplated making mountains of sandwiches for hungry ramblers, Mike ran around and found another inn, which was willing to accommodate us at short notice, albeit, at the start of the walk.  A quick replan, and as we arrived we were redirected to a new start point, and Mike rejigged the planned route, doing some of it in reverse, to bring us to the Swan Inn in Chiddingfold. They provided excellent food and service as can be seen from all the smiling faces.  Phew!
